SIGUE CRECIENDO LA ECONOMIA DEL PERU A UN 9.19%

Still Growing
The Peruvian economy grew 9.19% in May

The National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) reported that the Peruvian economy grew 9.19% in May of this year as compared with the same period in 2009. The May results, the second highest of 2010, consolidated accumulated growth of 7.37% during the first five months of the year. The construction sector registered the highest increases growing 20.88% in May.


Universal Health
The government announced the creation of universal health insurance for Lima and Callao

President Alan Garcia announced the implementation of universal health insurance for the Lima and Callao areas. The bill would allow 3.8 million persons who did not have insurance benefits to access the healthcare system. The leader said that the initiative would help to unify already existing health systems among which are the Ministry of Health, Social Security and the Armed Forces and National Police public health systems.
