PERU AND BOLIVIA HOLD INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF QUINOA THIS FEBRUARY 20TH IN NEW YORK
In joint coordination with the United Nations Organization (UN), the governments of Peru and Bolivia, through their Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development respectively, met in the city of La Paz in the country of Altiplano, to finalize details for the activities of both countries to mark the International Year of Quinoa.
As is known, the official launch of the International Year of Quinoa 2013 will take place on February 20th in the city of New York, reported the Ministers of Agriculture of Peru, Milton Von Hesse, and Bolivia, Nemesia Achacollo.
Both officials were in the Bolivian capital and discussed the details of the celebration of International Year of Quinoa, sponsored by the United Nations Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO).
It was learned that the date assigned for this universal formal event will take place on February 20th in New York and will be attended by Bolivian President Evo Morales and Peruvian first lady Nadine Heredia, both appointed as FAO special ambassadors for quinoa.
Meanwhile, Von Hesse highlighted Peru's strong commitment to the promotion of quinoa, "flagship food" of the Andean countries and reported that there is a commitment of both countries to carry out joint work including reciprocal visits by producers and Quinoa industrialists to boost growth in this sector "promising for sustainable rural development" in their countries.
Also, correspondent Biz USA Peru & Americas, which attended the meeting at the UN headquarters in New York, in an interview with Bolivian Deputy Minister Victor Hugo Vásquez, said that our countries are closely linked in revaluing our ancestral gold grain of the Andes.
There, Vasquez reported that nationally the Ministry of Rural Development and Deputy Minister of Bolivia, with producing organizations and traders of quinoa, coordinate various activities for departmental fairs. It also emerged that both governments made coordinated efforts at the border to reduce the illegal trade of quinoa.
As is known, Bolivia and Peru are the two main world producers of quinoa, with crops that represent, respectively, 46% and 42% of global production of this grain that was instrumental in feeding Hispanic cultures.
The UN decided in October last year to suspend the official launch of the International Year of Quinoa due to the threat of Hurricane Sandy in New York.
LAUNCH OF CAMPAIGN "QUINOA FOR THE WORLD"
Thus, adding to this schedule of activities by Peru and Bolivia, the Group announced that Peruvian Cuisine For The World (PCW), organizer of the prestigious exhibition of the same name, promotes the release of the campaign "Quinoa for the World", which seeks to promote and revalue our Quinoa consumption worldwide, but mainly in the U.S..
This initiative is to unite the vast majority of Peruvian restaurants that exist in the United States and those of other nationalities, to thereby invite them to submit their menus in a dish as the main ingredient having our Quinua.
The restaurants will put all their creativity and inspiration in dishes with Quinoa, privileging our ancestral product.

PERÚ Y BOLIVIA CELEBRARÁN AÑO INTERNACIONAL DE LA QUINUA ESTE 20 DE FEBRERO EN NUEVA YORK
En coordinaciones conjuntas con la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), los Gobiernos de Perú y Bolivia, a través de sus ministerios de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural respectivamente, se reunieron en la ciudad de la Paz en el país del Altiplano, para ultimar los detalles de las actividades que ambos países impulsarán con motivo del Año Internacional de la Quinua.
Como se sabe, el lanzamiento oficial del Año Internacional de la Quinua 2013 se realizará el próximo 20 de febrero en la ciudad de Nueva York, informaron los ministros de Agricultura de Perú, Milton Von Hesse, y de Bolivia, Nemesia Achacollo.
Ambos funcionarios se encontraron en la capital boliviana y conversaron sobre los pormenores de la celebración del Año Internacional de la Quinua, auspiciada por la Organización de Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación (FAO).
Se supo que la fecha asignada formalmente a este universal evento, tendrá lugar el próximo 20 de febrero en Nueva York con la presencia del presidente boliviano, Evo Morales, y la primera dama peruana, Nadine Heredia, ambos nombrados por la FAO embajadores especiales para la quinua.
Por su parte, Von Hesse destacó el firme compromiso del Perú con la promoción de la quinua, "alimento bandera" de los países andinos e informó que existe un compromiso de ambos países para llevar a cabo un trabajo conjunto que incluirá visitas recíprocas de productores e industrializadores de quinua para fortalecer el crecimiento de este sector "prometedor para el desarrollo rural sostenible" de sus países.
Asimismo, el corresponsal de Biz USA Perú & Américas, quien participó de la reunión en la sede de la ONU en Nueva York, en entrevista al Viceministro boliviano Víctor Hugo Vásquez, destacó que nuestros países se vinculen estrechamente en revalorar nuestro ancestral grano de oro de los Andes.
Allí, Vásquez informó que a nivel nacional el Ministerio y Viceministerio de Desarrollo Rural de Bolivia, junto a las organizaciones de productores y comercializadores de quinua, coordinarán actividades para realizar distintas ferias departamentales. También se supo que ambos Gobiernos realizan trabajos coordinados en la frontera para disminuir el comercio ilegal de quinua.
Como se sabe, Bolivia y Perú son los dos principales productores mundiales de quinua, con cultivos que representan, respectivamente, el 46% y el 42% de la producción global de este grano que fue fundamental en la alimentación de las culturas prehispánicas.
La ONU determinó en octubre del año pasado suspender el lanzamiento oficial del Año Internacional de la Quinua por la amenaza del huracán Sandy sobre Nueva York.
LANZARÁN CAMPAÑA "QUINUA PARA EL MUNDO"
De esta forma, sumándose a esta programación de actividades por parte de Perú y Bolivia, se anunció que el Grupo Peruvian Cuisine For The World (PCW), organizador de la prestigiosa feria que lleva el mismo nombre, se encuentra en la promoción del lanzamiento de la campaña "Quinua para el Mundo", la misma que busca promover y revalorar el consumo de nuestra Quinua en todo el planeta, pero principalmente en Estados Unidos.
Dicha iniciativa consiste en unir a la gran mayoría de restaurantes peruanos que existen en los Estados Unidos, así como a los de otras nacionalidades, para de esta manera invitarlos a presentar en sus menús un plato teniendo como ingrediente principal a nuestra Quinua.
Los restaurantes pondrán toda su creatividad e inspiración en los platillos a base de Quinua, privilegiando a nuestro producto ancestral.
Esta campaña se iniciará el domingo 3 de Febrero y culminara el domingo 29 de Diciembre de 2013.
