Trenton, New Jersey -
Open Door Media (ODM) is pleased to welcome Clarisa Romero to the ODM team. Clarisa brings with her more than 12 years of experience in public relations, communication, marketing, event planning, outreach and strategic/organizational planning. She is a skilled bilingual communicator and effective coordinator with a strong track record of spearheading projects that have become national models.
Prior to joining ODM, Clarisa worked as a marketing and public relations consultant. In that capacity, she worked with the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of NJ to revamp its public relations and marketing efforts and developed a social media marketing plan to generate broader support for the Chamber.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with Clarisa," said Gerry Gibbs, Principal at ODM. "Her skill set aligns precisely with our capabilities. She is a great addition to our team and we look forward to moving ODM at the fast-growing pace we have set."
Clarisa also worked for the State of New Jersey in various capacities. As the Director of Outreach & Legislative Services at the NJ Department of the Public Advocate, she tracked legislation and led outreach efforts to diverse constituencies in order to shape the department's strategy on a broad array of policy issues and build support for its policy positions. She served as the Public Advocate's lead staff on a high-profile initiative to shape policy recommendations for the Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Immigrant Policy. As part of that effort, she organized hearings with diverse communities, negotiated with detractors and supporters of immigrant integration, and collaborated with legal experts to formulate the panel's final policy recommendations.
Her skills as an effective communicator were also evident during her tenure at the New Jersey Department of Personnel's Division of EEO/AA, where she organized the Communications & Special Programs Bureau, which was credited with improving the branding image and lines of communication between the Division of EEO/AA and all state, local and municipal EEO offices.
Preceding her work in state government, Clarisa served as the Director of Development and Community Education at Multicultural Community Services, a non-profit social service agency. There she instituted a communications and public relations program to market the agency for private funding.
Clarisa earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Ecology with concentrations in Family and Child Studies and a Minor in Community Psychology from Montclair State University and is currently a candidate for a Master's in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
